YANSÃ

Goddess of winds and lightning

Yansã is associated with the natural powers of thunderstorms and is especially characterised by lightning and stormy winds.

She is the guide of the dead, the ghosts, and leads them their way. Yansã has no fear of death. This seems to originate from the fact that she is the Orixá of the winds and is therefore associated with air, especially with breath. Breath is a part of a person and is only removed by death. Yansã is displayed as a fighter woman, powerful and faithful. Like Xango she reacts choleric, however, when being contradicted.

Her colors are red and magenta, her symbol is lightning and her stone the coral. She lives in any kind of wind. Wednesday is her day.
