XANGO

Lord of the fire

Xango is the Orixá of fire, of lightning and thunder as powers of nature. He also is the judge and father of justice. With his lightning flashes he punishes liars and evil-doers, he is the revenger of people hit by injustice. Xango is the ideology, the decision, the will, and the initiative. He is the voice of the people, the unrivalled bold fighter.

As this fighter for justice he represents an ideal for the black people being treated unjust. His color is red, his stone is the ruby and his symbol the double bladed axe. He lives in thunder and lightning, in electrically charged atmosphere, in the west, i.e. in the death domain of the setting sun, the transformation, and magic. Wednesday is his day.
